We are open again!
After raising £400,000 in February 2022 to 'Save a Pub for the Valley', The Mardale Inn was purchased by Bampton Valley Community Pub. The building has been closed for 5 years and still needs significant investment to complete our plans for it, eg installation of a new kitchen.
As of July 1st, we are however delighted to have reopened in a basic form to offer some great summer drinks and occasional pop-up food. We are serving Cumbrian Ales, as well as the best in lagers, wines and Lake District gins.
Come visit our refreshed pub, meet our new manager Steph, and help bring the soul of this important Valley community hub to life!
Our extended Summer opening hours from July 30th are:
Mon & Tues - Closed
Weds & Thurs - 4PM to 10PM
Fri & Sat - Noon to 10PM
Sun - Noon to 8PM
We are drinks only today. For great Friday or Saturday lunchtime snack options (including takeaway to the pub!), please visit Bampton Village Shop just 100m away over the bridge.
Bampton is a small village of narrow lanes so we ask you to walk or cycle to visit us - or park considerately if coming by car. A number of recommended parking places are on the map here - which are only 100 to 200 metres walk away.
Alternative parking areas slightly farther away include (we are a beautiful Valley for an early evening stroll!):
3 cars in the layby just along from Bampton School House heading towards Haweswater
4 cars by Bomby Green and the bridge to Bampton Grange
6 cars by Chapel Bridge (over Haweswater Beck)
